We Love College Station

We travel across the country from time to time.  In that time, we get to meet a lot of interesting people and have entertaining and thought-provoking conversations.  Inevitably, our job and location come up.  People ask us why we do what we do, and we’re always happy to discuss our love of the towing business.  People also ask why we chose to run our business in College Station / Bryan, Texas.  There’s a lot of reasons why we chose to do business here.  Running a towing company, you can pretty much choose any location across the country where you want to do business.  We chose College Station for a few reasons.

Home

College Station is home to us.  We grew up here, and we simply couldn’t imagine living in any other place.  There is really something to living in the same place that you grew up.  We still have lots of friends from our childhood and college days that continue to live here.  That has been wonderful for us.

Aggies

We are big football fans and we absolutely love watching The Aggies play.  There is nothing quite like watching a Texas A&M home football game in the fall.  The atmosphere in the city is really electric, and we love that our program seems to be on the ascent.  It’s great to be around while this is all happening here.

Weather

We really like the weather in College Station / Bryan, TX.  Sure, in July and August it can get very hot, but we think it’s all worth it.  We’re not big fans of the cold, so we can’t really imagine living anywhere else, especially somewhere up north.  The winter is very mild, and the fall and spring are absolutely amazing times of the year to be living here.

People

Most of all, we love the people here and the feeling of community that this town has.  There simply isn’t a better group of people living anywhere else in the country.  That’s our opinion at least.

When you add everything up, it becomes clear why College Station and Texas in general is such a great place to live.

If you are deciding which towing company you should call for the next time you need one, you are probably wondering how you should decide which one you should go with.  We understand that it may seem like a difficult decision to make at first.  Here are some thoughts on how you can make the decision.

Reviews Online

Just like with any other type of small business, you should be able to find reviews from previous customers.  You should look for sites like Yelp and Angie’s List as a reference to find reviews.  I wouldn’t necessarily trust any sort of reviews that I found on the towing company’s website.  Those are definitely going to be cherry-picked to make the company seem as good as possible.  No one is going to put up bad reviews on their own website.  They are only going to put up the best possible reviews.  Reviews are a form of social proof.  If they are truly independent, they are generally the best way to know what you are getting yourself into with the company you are taking a look at.

Website

If you a company has a very poor and unprofessional website, that’s a decent indication of what you can expect from them if you were to work with them.  I would take a look at their website to see how much time and effort they have put into it.  If it looks great, you can reasonably expect that they care a lot and will probably do a good job for you.

Phone Calls

Towing is not an industry that is well known for having companies actually answer the phone.  As a result, you should try giving the companies a call and testing to see whether they actually answer.  If they do, it’s a good sign of how they will be to work with in the future.

Always Available

We think one of the biggest things that makes us stand out is the fact that we are available 24 hours a day.  A lot of companies claim that they are, but in reality it’s actually not the case.  Why would we do this to ourselves?  Well, for one, we know that things come up on the road at all times, whether during the day or at night.  It’s hard enough for most people to get a hold of a towing company during the day.  We’re not well known as an industry that answers the phone.  You can pretty much forget about it if you are trying to call a company at night.

We aim to be available to those people who need a tow after hours.  There is a huge demand for towing service after normal business hours, and we want to be the company that fulfills it.  How are we able to do this?  Well, it has admittedly taken some time for us to get everything out, but we have been able to manage our schedule so that someone is always around to answer the phone.  At the same time, we will always have a driver on call ready to be dispatched to wherever he needs to go to help someone out on the road.

We’ve Seen It All

People have asked us many times whether we have great stories from out on the road.  Our response is always that we have pretty much seen it all at this point.  We’ve had funny stories.  We’ve had sad stories.  We’ve had everything in between.  Here are some highlights.

It doesn’t snow too often in College Station / Bryan, but on the rare occasion that it does, all heck pretty much breaks loose on the road and no one seems to know how to handle the weather.  As a result, those are probably our busiest days where we get a call every five minutes or so.

We’ve had people get stuck in ditches in the middle of the night without realizing exactly where they are.  We have had to then talk with them and try to estimate exactly where they might be, and then we send one of our drivers out to try to find them.
